Setting up your computer to get online with The Circuit's Edge, using Windows95/98:
Internet Explorer and Outlook Express are generally provided with Windows, as internet applications.
To set up your computer, follow these steps. Remember to enter your username and password in
Step 1: Verify that Dial-up Networking is Installed
Press the Start button, select Settings, then Control Panel. Double Click the Add/Remove
Programs icon. Select the Windows Setup tab, then click on the Communications option and press
Details. Make sure that the Dial-up Networking option is selected. If it is, go on to step 2. If it isn't,
select it and click OK. Windows 95/98 will attempt to install the needed drivers, so make sure you've
got your installation disks or CD available. Now that Dial-up Networking is installed, you can
proceed to step 2.
Step 2: Verify that the Dial-up Adapter and TCP/IP Protocol are Installed

Press the Start button, select Settings, then Control Panel. Double-click the Network icon. You'll
see a dialog box. Make sure the Configuration tab is selected. Both Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP
should be the only items present, then you're ready to proceed to step 3. Click OK
To add the Dial-Up Adapter, hit the Add button, double-click Adapter, then scroll down the list until
you can select Microsoft. Choose the Dial-Up Adapter and hit OK.
If you need to install TCP/IP, hit the Add button, double-click Protocol, then select Microsoft, then
TCP/IP, and hit OK.
Now your Network dialog box should contain both Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP. If other adapters
or protocols are present, and you do not have a network of computers the extra items should be
removed. Select the adapter, click Properties, Bindings, and make sure the TCP/IP box is checked.
You're now ready to proceed to step 3.

Double Click the My Computer icon, then Dial-Up Networking. Double-click on Make New
Connection. Now, enter "The Circuit's Edge" as the computer you are dialing. Be sure your modem
is present in the "Select a Modem" box as well. Now click the Next > button. Enter the area code of
315 and the telephone number as 387-6644 and click Next >. Click Finish on the next screen. Now,
"The Circuit's Edge" should appear in the Dial-Up Networking group with an icon. While pointing
at The Circuit's Edge icon, click the RIGHT mouse button. A list of choices should appear, select
Properties. Now, uncheck "Use country
code and area
code" and click OK. Next, click on
Server Types and make sure only Enable
software compression, and TCP/IP are checked.
Step 4: Adding the dialer to your desktop

In the Dial-up Networking group, click on The Circuit's Edge icon and while holding down the mouse button, drag the icon to your desktop. Windows will ask you if you want to create a shortcut to this function; answer Yes.
